Isle of Wight Fuels – Keeping the Island moving!

Wed 9 March 2016

Isle of Wight Fuels are continuing with their investment programme at the only fuel oil storage terminal on the Island.

Our fuel jetty on the River Medina in East Cowes was found to have severe corrosion and degradation to the concrete supports due to age and water damage that required immediate attention. An investment of £750,000 was made to remove the damaged areas and repair the substantial structure of the jetty to make fuel importing to the Island viable for many years to come.

As part of our Health and Safety requirements we carry out thorough tests every 5 years to our 14 stock tanks at the terminal, and carry out repairs to the tank floors, welding and painting. We operate a rolling programme of tank cleanliness and tank painting in order to protect the integrity of our investments for the future.

Isle of Wight Fuels have also invested in a larger fleet of road tankers for deliveries, another small ‘baby’ road tanker for the narrow country lanes on the Island and a larger rear steer vehicle for accessibility to a growing commercial client base. Customers such as Hovertravel and Island Roads need large deliveries to keep their businesses operating and with a larger vehicle this means fewer drops and more efficient logistics to ensure we continue to meet our new and existing customer needs.
